Day 12: Something you crave often

Bubble Tea

Oh heck to the yes.  Can I have one? Now? Please?

Blog Challenge: Day 11

Day 11: A picture of something that makes you very happy

The sun! And the warmth that goes with it!

Blog Challenge: Day 10

Day 10: A picture that makes you laugh

I think this is self explanatory

Blog Challenge: Day 9

Day 9: A Website

meghantelpner.com

meghantelpnerblog.com

This woman, Meghan Telpner (as the websites suggest) is an inspiration!! They are the same website... one is her blog, one is her ...un...blog... either way, just go read her story, then read her blog! She's an all natural, holistic, naturopathic, nurtitionist and she is amazing! One of my favorite websites by far.  She's all about being healthy, fixing health problems, and many more things through natural ways.  DO it :D

Sunrise

I was sitting here reading through all the blogs I follow, because I've really been slacking lately at keeping up on everyone's lives.  As I sat reading through them all, at 2 minutes til 8'oclock in the A.M., I happened to glance out my backdoor.  Now... I hate winter.  This is common knowledge.  I hate being cold, I hate the sun blaring off of the white earth, blinding my eyes... but this morning, I looked outside at the slightly overcast sky, tinged with pink, and suddenly felt my breath almost taken away! I'm glad I was awake for this sunrise, otherwise my day might not have been this good... but now it will be. :)

Blog Challenge: Day 8

Day 8: Favorite Book

For real? I have to pick ONE?! Ugh.  No, this is my blog.  I refuse to pick just one single book.  I'm picking a series.

The Amelia Peabody Series
By Elizabeth Peters

(The first book in the series)

(The author herself)

Seriously, I think anything this woman writes is amazing, but this series is the funniest, most enthralling, addictive series I have ever read in my entire life!

Now, gentle readers (I even get that phrase from her!), I, Makenna K. Donaldson, love books.  I also love men.  In this book, there are two of the manliest of men (well, three really) that the book world has ever seen: Emerson and Ramses.  In the beginning, if you're a girl, you fall in love with Emerson.  But that's just the beginning! Can it get any better than Emerson?

Oh, dear readers, it can.

Ramses.  The quintessential, drop dead beautiful, absolutely perfect, the very best man that a woman could ever ask for!!!

Too bad he's just a character.

But seriously, I got so into these books that at one point, I chucked the book across the room and burst into tears.

I don't do this.  But I did.  They're just that good.

So go check them out at your local library! You can find the complete list and order in which to read this amazing series here (start from the bottom).

Blog Challenge: Day 7

A Picture of someone who has made the biggest impact on you

1. Jesus Christ

The ultimate example of everything we should be, how would He not be my answer? He has perfect love for me, He has gotten me through the hardest moments of my life.  He's my Savior.

Blog Challenge: Day 6

Day 6: Whatever tickles your fancy!!

Well, I think I'd like to write a poem for you.  Ready? And no, I didn't write it.

I'm not entirely sure who did.

One dark morning in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight,
Back to back they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other,
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And came and shot the two dead boys,
If you do not believe this tale,
Ask the blind man,
He saw it too.

:) love it.

Blog Challenge: Day 5

Day 5: Show a picture of somewhere you have been.

Glamis!!!
The best sand dunes in the world, in my opinion.  Location: California at the Arizona/Mexico border.

Just look at that beautiful dune!!! I love Glamis because I get to spend time with my entire family, how can that get any better?! And on top of that, I get to do one of my favorite things in the world WITH my entire family... riding quads and dirt bikes and getting so dirty.  It's so wonderful.

Blog Challenge: Day 4

Day 4: Favorite Quote

"5 If thou art called to pass through tribulation; if thou art in perils among false brethren; if thou art in perils among robbers; if thou art in perils by land of by sea;

 6If thou art
accused with all manner of false accusations; if thine enemies fall upon thee; if they tear thee from the society of thy father and mother and brethren and sisters; and if with a drawn sword thine enemies tear thee from the bosom of thy wife, and of thine offspring, and thine elder son, although but six years of age, shall cling to thy garments, and shall say, My father, my father, why can’t you stay with us? O, my father, what are the men going to do with you? and if then he shall be thrust from thee by the sword, and thou be dragged to prison, and thine enemies prowl around thee like wolves for the blood of the lamb;

7And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good."

Doctrine and Covenants, Section 122, verses 5-7

This has always been one of my favorite scriptures ever.  It always will be.

Reason for my Blog Challenge Fail

I have four words for you:

I suck at blogging.

That is four words right? Yeah, ok, good.  Haven't lost my math skills quite yet.
Well, good friends, it's really not because I don't want to blog.  Quite the opposite is true, I love to blog! It's just that recently I've gotten really sick.  While some of you may think that this would be the perfect time to attack my blog with a fierce vengeance and renewed vigor, the truth is that I can hardly make it to the computer, let alone sit through a typing session.  We don't have wireless internet at my house, so I have to connect my laptop to a cord, which reaches about as far as the couch, which is where I have now stationed myself.

Currently, I am laughing inside.  Not so much on the outside seeing as it hurts, but on the inside I laugh heartily, because I'm so so very glad that you all can't see my right now.  But just in case you wish you could see me, I'll describe it for you.  A very messy and ugly bun in my hair (sorry dad), a red Solesbee T-shirt, a black Big-D fleece jacket, black leggings, and huge woolen durka durka Jihad socks (ok, so they're just super sweet socks from Iran... :-P) and I'm laying upon a couch with a pillow on my lap and the laptop atop said pillow.  Let me assure you I am a sight to behold.

With so much downtime, I really have gotten a few things done.  I started the last Molly Moon book, and if you haven't read them, you really should, they're a fun read, and I just finished Julie&Julia, which I really liked (although... I was disappointed in the F-bomb, what the heck?!) and I fully intend to finish Wuthering Heights when I feel up to being sad... that book is kind of depressing.  I've knitted a few things... maybe I'll post some pictures when I feel up to it.
Anyways, that's the reasons for my horrendous fail at the blog challenge... sorry guys, someday soon I will finish it, promise!

Blog Challenge: Day 3

Day 3: A picture of you and your friends

Here is a group of fun kids from my singles ward.  I'm a little lacking on pictures for some reason... Haha, anyway, I'll put a few more up.  In this picture, I was appointed chief moustache artist for those who came with bare lips.  Honorary moustachees, Myself and Tasha2, donned finger-staches.

This is my cousin, Joseph, who is exactly 3 days younger than I am.  We've been really good buddies ever since then!! I love him!

My best friend, Keek, my sissy!! :D

At the LA temple with my aunt Shannon, my Mumsy, and my Grandy.  I love my family! :D

Me, E-y and Drew.  I love these boys who would do just about anything for me!

At Glamis with my family.  My best friends.

My sister and my brother.  What more is there to say?

My amazing mom and dad!

So there you have it! I don't have tons and tons of pictures, but there are my very best friends in the world!

Blog Challenge: Day 2

Well, I'm late for this challenge, but my excuse is that I'm sick! I'm feeling much better today, so here is the next day of the blog challenge...

Day 2: The meaning behind your blog name.

Well... to be honest, when I started this blog, I was a very different person.  It had a different name when I started out, and to be honest, I can't even remember what it was! Luckily, that doesn't matter.  But this blog has been a journey for me.  It's seen me through some dark days, and seen me into the happiest of days as well.  The name, though, Big Eyes on the Prize, does have some meaning to it.

First of all, everyone knows I have big eyes.

See what I mean? So basically, the Big Eyes, well that'd be my eyes, and the Prize is the eternal picture.  The Prize is finding joy.  The Prize is my future.  The Prize is a positive outlook.  The Prize is all these things and more, it's everything good!  Doesn't Heavenly Father want us to be happy? I'm pretty sure He does.  So that's what this blog means, that I'm happy!
